Jessica Cunningham is an avid maker, intrepid explorer, trained designer, and sole owner of Studio Portmanteau, a design studio happily based in Oregon's gorgeous Rogue Valley.
Says Jessica, "I love bringing materials to life with my own unique perspective, drawing inspiration from the desire to savor the simple things in life. I see beautifully designed objects as tiny gems that allow us all to travel to different parts of the world right from our own living rooms."
A passion for the simple things in life - reading, gardening, cooking, stargazing, beachcombing, the great outdoors - plus a fascination with tiny things and an obsession with all things golden led to the idea behind this design studio specializing in matchboxes, and more recently delving into a broader range of other thoughtful objects for the home and special occasions. I love bringing materials to life with my unique perspective as a trained designer, intrepid explorer, and avid maker. My work embraces rich topics like botany, astronomy, cartogrpahy, and literature through my own contemporary aesthetic lens. The botanical, nautical, celestial, and other designs of mine are created from my own graphic art, often inspired by my own photos of nature or vintage elements.
